In 1873, Joseph Eilles opened the first specialty store for the finest tea and coffee on Munich's Residenzstrasse, right across from the State Opera. With his extensive range of fine colonial goods such as spices, cocoa and tea products, he quickly established himself as a special kind of delicatessen. Josef Eilles once said, “The best is barely good enough for us,” a mindset that led him to advance to the the purveyor of the Royal Bavarian Court in 1873. It is also the motto that Eilles coffee was founded on. Today, Eilles stands for uncompromisingly high quality, and that level of dedication can be found in everything the company does.
