The company began in 1835 when Samuel Bewley and his son Charles imported over 2000 chests of tea directly from China, well before the Irish had developed a thirst for tea. Fast-forward to 2010 and the company is anchored in Dublin, has expanded into coffee imports, roasting and distributing. They operate many coffee shops, including one opened by a Bewley in 1927, which continues to flourish today.
